Barca Duck

DEAR PEOPLE AT WOODSIDE:

I AM DELIGHTED TO BE IN BARCELONA, CATELONIA

THE PORT IS RECOGNIZABLE BY ITS STATUE OF OLD CHRIS COLOMBUS, FOREVER LOOKING OUT TO SEA...

AND THE CITY IS FAMOUS FOR ITS WALKING STREETS, LAS RAMBLAS, WHICH IS FILLED WITH STREET ARTISTS, CAFES, LIVE ANIMALS FOR SALE, AND PICK POCKETS. EVEN I WAS AFRAID OF BEING STOLEN OUT OF THAT GIRLS PURSE....

COLOMBUS MARKS THE BOTTOM OF LAS RAMBLAS, AS THE TOP OF THE STREET IS MARKED BY A FOUNTAIN, AND THE FAMOUS SPANISH DEPARTMENT STORE... WHICH HAS A GROCERY STORE IN THE BASEMENT. I LOVE LOOKING AT WHAT THERE IS TO OFFER AT FOREIGN GROCERY STORES.

FROZEN PAELLA!

LOTS OF MEAT, AND A WHOLE ISLE OF OLIVE OIL.

AND THE AFOREMENTIONED FOUNTAIN..

I ASKED THE OTHER BIRDS WHAT I COULD SEE HERE. THEY RECOMMENDED, FOR A GOOD FEED, STAY HERE, BUT FOR ADVENTURE, SEEK OUT THE GOTHIC QUARTER, WHERE GAUDI AND PICASSO HUNG OUT TOGETHER.

WHAT COULD THIS BE FOR? FOOT WASHING??
IT WAS HERE BY THE GOTHIC SECTION WE SAW AND TOURED THE PICASSO MUSEUM, WHICH IS NOT PHOTOGRAPHED, BECAUSE SOMEONE FORGOT...

IT BECAME LATE, AROUND 5 OR 6 PM, AND I SAW A WORK OF ART THAT ALSO HOUSES A FLAME FOR ALL CATALONIANS WHO DIED DEFENDING THEIR REGIONAL IDENTITY.
THEN I STOPPED AT A TAPAS BAR. THE DEAL IS, YOU GET A GLASS OF RED OR WHITE, THEN YOU GET A PLATE AND PICK FROM THE VARIOUS TAPAS THEY OFFER AROUND. THEN AT THE END, THEY COUNT HOW MANY TOOTHPICKS ARE ON YOUR PLATE, AND CHARGE YOU A EURO EACH. LUCKY THAT GIRL ONLY HAD 3. I HAD TO FINISH HER WINE. I NO LONGER WONDERED HOW THE NATIVES WAIT TO EAT SUPPER SO LATE, BECAUSE I WAS FULL ALREADY!

THEN WE HOPPED ON A BIKE, A WEE BIT TIPSY, IN SEARCH OF GAUDI BUILDINGS..

HERE IS ONE OF GAUDI'S APARTMENT BUILDINGS. IF WE ARE LUCKY, NEXT TIME WE WILL SEE THE FAMOUS SAGRADA FAMILIA CHURCH.

THEN WE STOPPED FOR THE EVENING MEAL, AT 10:30 PM, IT WAS PRIME DINING TIME. 15 EUROS AFFORDED A 3-COURSE MEAL, AND A HALF LITRE OF WINE. ALL THE GIRLS FRIENDS WERE ALREADY AT WORK ON THE VIKIING SHIP, BUT SHE HAD AN EVENING OFF, AND WASNT GOING TO WASTE IT! SO JUST A GIRL AND A DUCK SAT DOWN TO GAZPACHO...

THEY GIVE YOU A PLATE OF CHOPPED VEGETABLES WITH YOUR GAZPACHO, SO YOU CAN ADD YOUR OWN, ACCORDING TO TASTE...

AND THEN CAME THE SEAFOOD PAELLA, WHICH WE HAD BEEN ANTICIPATING ALL
DAY.

AND TIPSY AGAIN, YET FULL WITH PAELLA, WE CYCLED HOME AT MIDNIGHT TO THE VIKING SHIP!!

CHEERS, LOVE AND QUACKS, FROM RUNAWAY RUBBER DUCKIE AND THAT GIRL!

Love this. Who would've thought that a rubber duck could easily bring back so many memories of romance, food, freedom? Ah! Thanks for this.
